Melanie Konynenberg, M.C., R.C.C.
Clinical Counsellor
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Alberta and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting children, youth, and adults in both community and private counselling settings.
My experience includes working as a Behaviour Interventionist in the Autism Intervention Program at OSNS in Penticton, as well as teaching music in schools and providing private and group lessons in voice, piano, and musical theatre for many years.
As a mother for 22 years and married for 25 years, I possess a deep understanding of the complexities of family life and the challenges that arise at different stages. Having navigated life’s ups and downs with resilience and hope, I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their own experiences and uncover their strengths.
I draw inspiration from nature, music, and the companionship of dogs and other furry creatures—these sources of joy and grounding are integral to my practice.
In my work with individuals, I employ a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Additionally, I incorporate Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills training, which allows me to provide comprehensive support to my clients as they work towards achieving their therapeutic goals.
I also have a strong passion for helping individuals attain a higher level of relationship satisfaction by utilizing the Gottman Method, along with Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
