At Wild Mountain Clinical Counselling, we know that healing after a traumatic experience isn’t just possible—it’s essential. If you’ve been impacted by crime in British Columbia, you don’t have to walk the path alone. Through the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), survivors, witnesses, and loved ones can access funding for counselling services that support long-term healing. And we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
What is CVAP?
CVAP is a provincial program run by BC’s Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. It offers financial support and therapeutic services to those affected by violent crime, helping individuals restore well-being and regain stability in their lives.
Whether the offence happened recently or years ago, if it caused physical or psychological harm, you may be eligible.
What Support Does CVAP Provide?
CVAP benefits are designed to reduce the financial burden of recovery, and include:
· Counselling (our speciality at Wild Mountain)
· Medical and dental care
· Protective measures (like changing locks or relocating)
· Income support for missed work due to injuries
· Vocational services for returning to work
· Court support counselling during legal proceedings
Who Can Apply?
You may qualify for CVAP if you are:
· A victim of a violent crime (including assault, sexual violence, domestic abuse, child abuse, or homicide)
· An immediate family member of a victim (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, etc.)
· A witness who experienced psychological trauma from witnessing the crime or its immediate aftermath
Importantly, you don’t need to wait for charges to be laid or a conviction to be made—a police report or supporting documentation is usually enough.
