Amanda Smith, M.C., R.C.C.
Clinical Counsellor
Welcome! I’m Amanda Smith, a compassionate, non-judgmental, and client-centered registered clinical counsellor dedicated to supporting my clients on their journey toward healing and growth. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from Gonzaga University. I bring a holistic approach that deeply honors the mind-body connection and work with you to sense into your emotions and learn how the brain creates neuropathways and how we can better support
change.
I believe that many of our emotions and behaviours are born out of our stories and learned experiences, including those in childhood. I believe in meeting people where they are at with compassion and without judgment; we all have a story, and that story matters. My goal is to be a positive influence in the community and people’s lives with a focus on positive changes at both an individual and a social level. My own lived experience helps facilitate connection with others and allows for a deeper connection to a client’s distress.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, or seeking greater emotional balance, I provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space where healing and empowerment can unfold. Together, we’ll explore how your body, mind, and emotions interact to create your experience, unlocking new pathways for growth and well-being.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy being out in the yard, playing board games, and doing arts and crafts. I am a parent of a teenager, who keeps me on my toes; I am constantly learning how to be a better parent and a better human being.
I work from a trauma-informed place, using attachment theory, lifespan development, noticing trauma responses, tying emotions into body sensations, and mindfulness practice. I will be offering EMDR therapy starting in 2026!
My style integrates research-supported tools such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, with person-centered talk therapy using Narrative therapy and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, and Reality Therapy to help challenge our irrational thoughts and feelings, and to explore our stories. I work with you somatically to notice how emotions feel physically in our body to help build a mind-body connection. We all have stories, and those stories matter. These tools allow me to tailor therapy to your unique needs, helping you cultivate self-compassion, build resilience, and foster healthier relationships—with yourself and others.
I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and life stages, including individuals, couples, families, adolescents, LGBTQ2+, and the neurodiverse. If you’re ready to embark on a journey toward greater self-understanding and meaningful change, I’m here to walk alongside you.
