Jody Monk, MSW, R.S.W.

Registered Social Worker

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Social Work. My professional background includes a range of roles supporting individuals experiencing substance use, mental health challenges, homelessness, and bereavement.

I have been honoured to learn from teachers who have shared an Indigenous worldview—one that understands the cosmos as unified, sacred, interconnected, and spirit-filled. This perspective continues to shape both my life and my work.

I value connecting with individuals across the lifespan, from birth through to end of life. I hold a deep respect for the transitions we move through as humans, including the process of dying, and feel honoured to walk alongside individuals in these spaces.

Outside of my practice, I am continually humbled by motherhood. I value time spent traveling, learning, and being active with my family. I am inspired by storytelling, art, and moments of stillness—often found resting amongst the clouds as an eternal dreamer.

My counselling approach is rooted in understanding the broader systems and relational patterns that give rise to life’s challenges. From this perspective, symptoms are not simply problems to fix, but meaningful expressions that invite deeper awareness.

In our work together, I support you in reconnecting with the wisdom of your body by attuning to its signals and messages, building emotional awareness, and exploring your experiences within the context of your environment. We also incorporate practical behavioural strategies to support more adaptive ways of responding.

My approach is integrative and influenced by trauma-informed practice, Jungian and depth-oriented perspectives, BodyTalk, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, dream analysis, creative exploration, and ongoing research.

I view counselling as not only a space for resolving difficulties, but also an opportunity to encounter your inner world more fully. Together, we may explore meaning-making, vitality, spontaneity, and alignment—supporting movement from patterns of compulsion toward more intentional and empowered choice.
