Lauren Wolfe,

Practicum Student

I’m currently a Master of Arts Counselling Psychology practicum student at Yorkville University. I came to Penticton from Calgary to complete my practicum under the supervision of Christel Mitchell. My Master’s is complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.

I have over ten years of experience working with families as a caregiver and respite worker. I’ve supported youth facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, family conflict, and emotional overwhelm. These experiences have helped me build strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to stay grounded in high-pressure situations. For the past year, I’ve also been a group art facilitator in long-term care settings. Before that, I worked as a tattoo artist for several years, a role that sparked my love for connecting with people and helping them recognize their strengths and potential.

When I’m not working, I enjoy slow mornings, time in nature, reading, creating mixed-media art, and cuddling with my two cats.

My core belief is that a community is only as strong as its most vulnerable members. This value guides both my everyday life and the work I do as a counsellor.

As my client, your only job is to show up just as you are. You are the expert of your own story and lived experience. My role is to create a warm, welcoming, and safe space where you can feel at ease exploring your story more deeply. I’m committed to tailoring my therapeutic approach to your unique needs and collaborating with you in whatever way best supports your growth and well-being.

I primarily work from a client-centered framework, which means I aim to empower you to recognize and utilize your own strengths and inner resources in ways that feel meaningful and authentic to you. At the core of my practice are empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine collaboration.

As a practicum student, I am continuously learning and evolving. Upon graduation, I am excited about the possibility to continue training in additional therapeutic modalities such as IFS and EMDR to better serve the individuals and communities I work with.
